F1 News: Aston Martin Chief Outlines Goals of 2023 Season for Team

Aston Martin has had a challenging time in F1 since its return to the sport in 2021. Despite increased investment and the appointment of new personnel, the team has struggled to consistently perform at the front of the midfield pack. While there were some promising signs of progress in the second half of 2022, it is clear that more improvements will be necessary if the team hopes to make significant gains against the top three teams, or even midfield leaders such as McLaren.

In light of this, Aston Martin’s Team Principal, Mike Krack, has outlined the goals the team is working towards for the 2023 season. Speaking to Racingnews365, Krack stated that the team has realistic expectations for the upcoming season, and emphasized the importance of avoiding overconfidence during the winter break. He noted that there is little to be gained by being overly confident about the team’s package, as this can easily backfire when the season begins.

“We finished seventh last season. That should be better next year, we have to take a step,” Krack told the press.

“I think it would be rude to say that we want to participate at the very front next year – that is too ambitious and unrealistic. But we do want to take that significant step.

“I also think that with the steps we have already taken so far, and with the recruitment of Fernando Alonso, we can make that happen.

“We’ve seen a battle for fourth in the World Championship… if we can get involved in that battle, it would be such a step.”

Despite the challenges faced by the team in recent years, the addition of Fernando Alonso to the line up indicates Aston Martin’s ambition to improve and climb up the ranks in Formula 1. However, with less scrutiny heading into 2023, the team will have the opportunity to exceed expectations and demonstrate their intentions of making progress in the sport. It will certainly be interesting to see how Aston Martin performs in the 2023 season, and whether they are able to achieve the goals they have set for themselves.
