F1 News: Aston Martin Team Chief Reflects On Sebastian Vettel’s Retirement

The retirement of Sebastian Vettel from Formula One at the end of last year has elicited a reaction from the Aston Martin F1 team principal, Mike Krack. During an interview with Motorsport Magazin, Krack expressed his disappointment at the German driver’s decision to retire and hopes that he will one day regret it.

Krack spoke about Vettel’s performance towards the end of the 2022 season, saying:

“When things went up in Singapore and Suzuka, you could see his joy. When you heard him on the radio, you immediately knew he was there. He was sharp, he was really in the flow. You could tell in the last races that a car that gives him more feedback, more performance, motivates him even more.”

The team principal also praised Vettel’s exemplary behavior, despite facing difficulties during the season, saying:

“I have to say: hats off! He had a difficult time, often dropped out in Q1, but he never let his head down and always continued to support the team and Lance. That was very exemplary.”

Vettel, who is a four-time champion, recently competed in the Race of Champions alongside Mick Schumacher, where he hinted at a possible one-off return to Formula One. Vettel said:

“I always liked, for some reason, rallying, but I can see it’s a major challenge, because it’s so different to what we do in, let’s say, classic circuit racing. So I don’t know. We’ll see.”

The 2023 Formula One season is set to kick off with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 3-5. This season will see a record-breaking 23 races, including three races in the United States, in Austin, Miami, and Las Vegas.
