F1 News: Aston Martin’s Dan Fallows Confident For 2023 Success – “Will Be Much More Competitive Than This Year”

Aston Martin is confident in its prospects for the 2023 Formula 1 season as it works to improve the AMR23 car. The team, which is based in Silverstone, has made impressive progress in recent years, climbing from the back of the pack into the midfield. This progress is expected to continue with Dan Fallows as technical director and the team’s focus on innovation and development.

While top-10 results may not be the ultimate goal for Aston Martin, the team is looking to avoid a potentially disastrous start to the new F1 regulations. In 2022, the team demonstrated its ability to make significant changes, such as altering the aerodynamic concept of the AMR22 at the Spanish Grand Prix.

With additional wind-tunnel time over the winter, the team is hoping to make even more progress with the AMR23. Fallows has indicated that there are “hundreds of projects” underway at the moment, all aimed at improving various aspects of the car, from weight to aerodynamics.

According to MARCA, Fallows explained:

“We think the car for 2023 will be much more competitive than this year. I am sure that we can take a great step forward with the AMR23. I am sure of this because when I analyse the car, there are many areas for improvement that I see in all of the car.

“We have, literally, hundreds of projects underway at the moment. In the aerodynamic department, in the design office, in R&D, people are finding improvements. Whether there are with weight, aerodynamics… it will all result in better performance. “

Despite not setting high expectations for next season, Aston Martin will face scrutiny as it tries to demonstrate its ability to escape midfield mediocrity and work towards its long-term goal of fighting for championships. The team has signed another world champion to its driver lineup, Fernando Alonso, and will be under pressure to deliver.

While financial limitations may prevent some teams from matching the top three, excuses will begin to wear thin if Aston Martin is unable to achieve its objectives. The 2023 season will be a crucial one for the team as it looks to show that its “five-year plan” to fight for championships is a realistic goal.
