F1 News: Lewis Hamilton Warns Max Verstappen “How Hard It Is To Be At The Top And Stay There”
As the highly anticipated 2023 Formula 1 season approaches, reigning champion Max Verstappen will no doubt be feeling the heat from seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton. Despite a difficult 2022 season for Mercedes, which saw them unable to compete with Red Bull, Hamilton remains determined to reclaim his throne in the upcoming season.
Verstappen had a dominant performance in 2022, securing the driver’s championship at the Japanese Grand Prix and leading Red Bull to victory in the constructor’s championship at the Austin Grand Prix. He also set a record for the most race wins in a single season with a staggering 15 victories.
In contrast, 2022 marked the first season in Hamilton’s storied F1 career that he did not stand atop the podium. However, the British driver has remained positive about the year and has recognised the progress that the Mercedes team made from the beginning to the end of the season.
Despite the disappointment of not winning a race in 2022, Hamilton is well aware of the challenges of staying at the top in the cutthroat world of Formula 1. He told Bild:
“I know how hard it is to be at the top and stay there.”
As the 2023 season gets underway with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 5th, Verstappen will be eager to add to his tally of championship wins and make a run at a historic third title. Meanwhile, Hamilton will be eyeing his record-breaking eighth championship win and solidifying his status as one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport.
The competition at the top of the grid promises to be fierce, with Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari all expected to contend for victories. It will be interesting to see how the battle for supremacy plays out over the course of the season.
