F1 News: Max Verstappen Will Return To Drive To Survive For Season 5

Max Verstappen has been very negative about how he was portrayed in Drive to Survive so far in the show’s history after he accused the show of “faking rivalries”. But now the F1 world champion has admitted that fans will be seeing more of him in the upcoming fifth series.

“They faked a few rivalries which they don’t really exist,” Verstappen told the press last year. “So I decided to not be a part of it and did not give any more interviews after that because then there is nothing you can show.”

Netflix has confirmed that a 5th and 6th season are being planned by F1, but F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali is urging drivers that aren’t involved to include themselves as much as possible.

Following this, Verstappen has admitted that he has“talked to the people who are in charge and who are running the show” and “came to a good understanding for the future.”

He told Barstool Sports:

“Last year I was not really involved.

“There were a few things I was not really happy with.

“Especially faking rivalries between drivers. That for me is a tough one because of course [the series] did wonders in America.

“But also I think sometimes they portray a few drivers differently to how they actually are. And then, of course, the people who are to have one are saying, ‘ooh, this guy’s a bit of a dick’ or whatever, which in real life he’s not.”

Verstappen was still seen in the Drive to Survive series thanks to paddock footage, but now he will actively be involved in the series.

“For the future we came to a good understanding of how we can work together,” he admitted. “So I’m sure in the next one you will see a little bit more of me.”

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
