F1 News: Sergio Perez Defends Position On Red Bull Team

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez has expressed his confidence in himself and his position on the team, despite the arrival of Daniel Ricciardo as the third driver.

The Red Bull Racing team is known for its high standards and competitiveness, and Perez recognizes that to maintain his seat, he must perform to the best of his ability, regardless of the presence of another accomplished and experienced driver like Ricciardo.

When asked about Ricciardo’s role on the team and the possibility of him taking over Perez’s seat after the RB19 launch, Perez stated:

“No, when you’re at Red Bull Racing, you have to perform at your best.

“It doesn’t matter if Daniel is here or not, Red Bull can choose almost any driver they want from the grid.”

Perez’s response underlines the pressure that comes with being a Red Bull driver, but also shows his unwavering belief in his own abilities.

Ricciardo’s role with Red Bull will mainly involve simulation work and demonstration runs, and the team does not currently have any plans for test days or free practice sessions, giving Perez the chance to prove himself without any internal competition.

The Mexican driver believes that having Ricciardo as part of the team will only enhance the team’s performance in the coming season due to his extensive experience and understanding of the sport. Perez added:

“I think we’re very lucky to have Daniel, considering his level of experience, and to have him back at the factory with the engineers.

“He really knows what we’re talking about when it comes to the car, he really understands it.

“So, having someone like him around will be extremely helpful, especially during race weekends.”
